Heat Exchangers

Albion Applications are pleased to offer a very wide range of boiler heat exchangers from the long-established Italian manufacturer, Giannoni.  Heat exchange is at the heart of all domestic boilers, and the careful selection of well-designed heat exchangers ensure boilers are capable of delivering optimum performance at maximum efficiency.  There are two separate types of heat exchanger, both produced in a range of models by Giannoni:

Gas/water heat exchangers

  • These are the primary heat exchange device within any gas-fired boiler, transferring heat from the products of combustion generated through the burning of the fuel gas, into useable heat in the form of water at an elevated temperature.  Giannoni’s gas/water heat exchangers are manufactured entirely from high grade copper, and consist of oval or circular section heat exchange tubes through which the primary water is passed, set within a fin pack that effectively increases the external heat exchange surface area of the tubes.  Intended for mounting above the boiler burner, the fins are fully brazed to the tubes to ensure maximum heat transfer from the products of combustion passing between the fins.
  • The heat transfer to the water within the tubes has also been optimised through the inclusion of turbulating baffles that both increase the internal heat exchange area and eliminate boiling noise.
  • The design of the heat exchangers has evolved over many years to ensure full compatibility with all types of boiler burners, combustion chambers and flue systems, including atmospheric and forced draft flue arrangements.
  • All of the Giannoni gas/water heat exchanger models are available in a range of sizes, determined by heat transfer requirements, and can be factory-fitted with a wide variety of primary water connection sizes, styles and orientations, as well as control thermostat mounting arrangements.

  PR 403, PR 406, PR 660 6 tubes 17.4 to 35 kW

Bi-thermal heat exchangers
Copper-finned dual tube heat exchangers for transferring heat to primary heating water AND domestic hot water
Oval tube range PRB 501, PRB 502 6 tubes 20.0 to 34.2 kW

Plate heat exchangers

  • These are for use in combination boilers and are specifically designed to transfer heat from the boiler primary water to heat the domestic hot water.  There are a variety of models, all of which consist of a compact, fully brazed stainless steel plate type heat exchanger unit.
  • There are a number of models, both cross-flow and parallel flow, and all can be produced with a plate stack optimised for the heat transfer required, generally between 12 and 16 plates.
  • Some of the water/water heat exchanger models have factory-fitted water connections specifically designed and arranged for direct coupling to Giannoni hydraulic 3-way diverter valves.
  • Other models have surface connections, specifically for use with the Fugas Hydroblock and other similar hydraulic circuit components.
All Giannoni heat exchangers are produced in modern fully-automated plant and all undergo an automatic factory leakage test.
