Hydraulic Groups

The Hydroblock is an innovative solution that can be readily applied to a wide range of domestic boiler hydraulic circuits.  The concept is realised and manufactured by the Italian company, Fugas, who are exclusively represented outside of Italy by Albion Applications.
Designed specifically for use with modern compact brazed stainless steel plate heat exchangers or via pipe work to separate heat exchanger, commonly used in current combination boilers, the Hydroblock consists of a pair of brass & plastic assemblies mounted one at each end of the heat exchanger.  There are a variety of standard executions for each brass assembly, and overall, the entire hydraulic control function within the boiler is integrated across the two assemblies.  The considerable benefits of the Hydroblock are minimised boiler components and boiler size, reduced boiler assembly time and manufacturing cost, increased boiler component reliability.  Features of the Hydroblock assemblies include:
  • Boiler pump connection
  • Heating flow and return connections
  • Cold water inlet & hot water outlet connections
  • Boiler primary flow proving
  • Tap water flow detection via a differential pressure switch or Hall Effect sensor.
  • Primary water diverting function – either electrically or hydraulically actuated
  • Sealed system component connection points (pressure relief valve, pressure & temperature gauges, filling point, drain)
  • Internal boiler by-pass arrangement to ensure minimum primary flow through boiler
The assemblies can be configured to be attached and sealed to all of the established and available plate heat exchangers, including Alfa Laval, Swep, Giannoni and Zilmet.
The Hydroblock is not limited to combination boilers, with the hydraulic assemblies also being suitable for sealed and open vented heating only boilers.  Furthermore, whilst the range of standard Hydroblock assemblies is very comprehensive, Albion Applications and Fugas are keen to work with customers to develop appliance specific derivatives.
The Hydroblock can be supplied bulk packed as individual components or sub-assemblies, or as a fully assembled kit of parts for direct incorporation into the boiler at production stage.

About Fugas

Founded in 1962, Fugas has a long history of design, development and manufacture of a wide range of equipment for gas-fired boilers and water heaters, including components and whole appliances.  Fugas has invested heavily in a flexible production facility based around a number of assembly plants and dedicated sub-contractors, which has led to attaining ISO 9001 certification.  There is also a commitment to research and development and new product design, so that Fugas can maintain its position as the leading provider of hydraulic solutions for domestic boilers.
